Law firm SEO that puts the right practice areas in front of the right clients.

Law firm SEO helps your firm appear when people search for a lawyer, a legal problem or a practice area in your location. We build practice-area pages, attorney profiles and a Google Business Profile for each office, and we keep every claim inside the advertising rules of your jurisdiction.

What holds law firms back in search

  • One 'Practice areas' page lists everything, so no single area ranks.
  • Attorney profiles are a short biography and a headshot.
  • Directories and legal marketplaces appear above the firm for most searches.
  • Offices share one Google Business Profile, or the profile is unclaimed.
  • Content is written for other lawyers, not for someone facing a legal problem for the first time.

How we work with law firms

  1. 01

    Map the searches clients use

People search by problem ('what happens if...'), by practice area and by place. We test those searches in Google, on maps and in AI assistants for each practice area you want to grow.

  2. 02

    One page per practice area

A page for each area and, where it deserves one, each sub-area, written in plain language: who it is for, what the process looks like and what to do next. A lawyer at your firm reviews the content for accuracy.

  3. 03

    Attorney and office pages

A real page per attorney (experience, admissions, areas, publications) and per office (address, hours, who works there), so the firm's expertise is visible and checkable.

  4. 04

    Google Business Profile and reviews

Accurate categories, services and hours for each office, with an even-handed process for asking clients for reviews where your professional rules allow it.

  5. 05

    Technical health and AI visibility

Fast mobile pages, clean structure, and consistent firm details across the web, so search engines and AI assistants describe you correctly.

  6. 06

    Reporting

Calls, enquiry forms and consultation bookings by practice area, not just rankings.

Legal is one of the most competitive and most expensive categories in search, and nobody can guarantee a ranking or a number of enquiries. We focus on the practice areas and locations where your firm has a genuine edge.

What the search data shows

In October 2026, Semrush estimated about 9,900 searches a month in the United States for law firm seo, 6,600 for lawyer seo, 3,600 for attorney seo and 2,900 for personal injury lawyer seo. Estimated cost per click for these terms is around $50 to $60, which shows how much firms value the clients behind them. In Australia the same estimates are about 1,000 a month for law firm seo and 720 for lawyer seo; in Canada, about 590 and 880. These are third-party estimates, so treat them as directional. The point is that firms are actively looking for this help, and that the clients they want are worth a lot.

Practice-area pages that earn their place

A person with a legal problem rarely searches for a firm by name. They search for the problem or the practice area, often with a place. A single page that lists every area cannot answer all of those searches, so each area you want to grow needs its own page.

  • A clear explanation of the issue and the usual options, in plain language.
  • Who the service is for, and when it is worth speaking to a lawyer.
  • What the process looks like, honestly, including what you cannot predict.
  • The attorneys who handle it, linked to their profiles.
  • Answers to the questions clients really ask, written from your experience.
  • A clear next step, such as booking a consultation.

Attorney profiles and credibility

Legal advice is the kind of content where expertise and trust matter most. Google's guidance on creating helpful, people-first content asks whether content shows first-hand experience and clear authorship. A real profile for each attorney (admissions, practice focus, publications, speaking, and a link to the regulator's record where one exists) gives clients and search engines something to check.

Advertising rules

Lawyer advertising is regulated, and the rules differ by state, province and country. In the United States, for example, the American Bar Association's Model Rule 7.1 prohibits false or misleading communications about a lawyer's services, and each state adopts its own version. Outside the United States, your law society or regulator sets the rules. Claims about results, 'best lawyer' style superlatives, client testimonials and specialisation titles are the areas that most often need care. We write copy to stay factual, and you remain responsible for confirming it complies with your jurisdiction.

Local search and multiple offices

For many matters, clients choose a lawyer near them. Google says local results are based mainly on relevance, distance and prominence, as explained in its guide to improving your local ranking. Each office with staff on site needs its own accurate Google Business Profile and its own page. Pages that repeat the same text with a different city name do not help clients, and we advise against them. See our local SEO service.

Reviews

Reviews strongly influence who a client calls. Google's policy on fake engagement does not allow paid or incentivised reviews, or asking only satisfied clients. Confidentiality also limits how you can reply: never confirm that someone is a client or discuss a matter in a public response. Check what your professional rules allow before you ask for or publish testimonials.

How AI assistants describe your firm

People now ask AI assistants questions such as which type of lawyer to speak to. Accurate, consistent information on your site and listings gives those tools better material, and we check what they currently say about your firm. See our AI SEO service. We cannot promise that any assistant will recommend a firm.

Law firms: common questions

What is law firm SEO?

Law firm SEO is the work of helping a firm appear in search results, maps and AI answers when people look for a lawyer or a legal issue. It covers practice-area pages, attorney profiles, the Google Business Profile, reviews and the technical health of the website.

How long does SEO take for a law firm?

Fixes to your profile and site can be quick, but movement in rankings for competitive practice areas usually takes months. We report on calls and enquiries so progress is visible earlier.

Do you write the legal content?

We draft from information your lawyers provide and ask a qualified lawyer at the firm to review every page before it goes live. We do not give legal advice.

Can you help with the rules on lawyer advertising?

We write factual copy and flag the areas that usually need care, such as results claims, superlatives and testimonials. You must confirm compliance with your own regulator, because the rules differ by jurisdiction.

Can a small firm compete with the large firms and directories?

Often, by focusing on the practice areas and places where the firm has real depth, rather than competing for every broad term. We will not promise rankings above the directories.

Should each lawyer have a page?

Yes. A genuine profile for each attorney helps clients and search engines understand your expertise, and gives your content visible authorship.

Do you handle personal injury and other high-cost niches?

Yes, though these are the most competitive categories and cost-per-click for them is high. We start with an honest look at which searches are realistic for your firm.

Do you publish case studies?

We publish results only when a client has approved them and we hold the evidence, such as Google Analytics or Search Console data, so every figure on this site can be checked. For law firm, the free AI visibility check shows where you stand today and what we would change first.
