Websites built to rank, not just to look good.

We design and build websites with search in mind from the first sketch: fast, mobile-ready, easy for search engines to read, and clear enough that visitors know what to do next.

When a new website is the answer

  • Your site looks fine, but nobody finds it.
  • A previous redesign cost you rankings and enquiries.
  • The site is slow or awkward on phones.
  • Nobody on your team can update it, or the person who built it has gone.

How we build

  1. 01

    Discovery and keyword mapping

We decide what each page is for, and which searches it should answer, before anything is designed.

  2. 02

    Structure

Navigation and page layouts planned around how your customers search and buy.

  3. 03

    Design

Clean, fast layouts that guide visitors to enquire, with accessibility in mind.

  4. 04

    Build and content

Pages built for speed and search, with copy written to answer real questions.

  5. 05

    Testing

Layout on real screen sizes, speed, accessibility and search checks before anything goes live.

  6. 06

    Launch and monitoring

Redirects, sitemap and Search Console set up, then watched closely after launch.

A well-built site gives you the best chance, but it does not rank on its own. Google's SEO Starter Guide says there are no secrets that automatically rank a site first. Content, trust and time still matter, which is why many clients pair a new site with our SEO service.

What "built to rank" means

A website can look excellent and still be invisible in search. A site built to rank is designed with search in mind from the first sketch, not patched afterwards. That covers decisions most visitors never see:

  • Plain, crawlable content. Google indexes what is in the rendered HTML, and discovers links through ordinary anchor links that have an href attribute. Google also recommends server-side or pre-rendering as still a good idea. See its JavaScript SEO basics.
  • One clear purpose per page. A single main heading, a sensible heading order and a distinct topic, so your own pages do not compete.
  • Mobile parity. Google uses the mobile version of your content for indexing, so the mobile site must carry the same content, headings and structured data as desktop. See mobile-first indexing.
  • Speed and stability. Good Core Web Vitals thresholds are an LCP of 2.5 seconds or less, an INP of 200 milliseconds or less and a CLS of 0.1 or less, according to web.dev.
  • Structured data that matches the page, which describes what is visible and nothing more.
  • Accessibility. Semantic structure, readable text, keyboard access and good contrast help every visitor.

From brief to launch

  1. Discovery and keyword mapping. We decide what each page is for before anything is designed.
  2. Structure and wireframes. The navigation and page layouts, planned around how customers search and buy.
  3. Design. Clean, fast layouts that guide people to enquire.
  4. Build and content. Pages built for speed and search, with the copy written to answer real questions.
  5. Testing. Layout on real screen sizes, speed, accessibility and search checks before launch.
  6. Launch and monitoring. Redirects, sitemap and Search Console set up, then watched closely after go-live.

Redesigning without losing rankings

If you already have a site that brings in enquiries, the biggest risk of a redesign is breaking what works. Google advises mapping every old URL to its new equivalent, using permanent 301 or 308 redirects straight to the final destination, and keeping them for as long as possible, generally at least a year. See Google's guidance on site moves. We plan and test this before launch.

What we need from you

  • A clear view of what you sell and who buys it.
  • Your logo, brand assets and any real photos of your work or team.
  • Access to your current site, domain and analytics if you have them.
  • Someone who can review drafts and give timely feedback.
  • Evidence for any claims you want on the site, such as case studies and credentials.

After launch

A new site is the start of the work, not the end. We agree up front how you will update content, and we show you before launch. Many clients continue with our SEO service so the new site keeps growing.

Web design and development: common questions

What is SEO web design?

It is building a website so search is considered at every step: structure, speed, content, mobile layout and technical setup. The aim is a site that is easy for search engines to understand and easy for visitors to use.

Do you design as well as build?

Yes. We handle structure, design, build and content so the pieces fit together.

How much does a website cost?

It depends on the number of pages, the functionality and the content needed. We scope after a conversation and give you a written quote. We do not publish a one-size-fits-all price.

How long does a website take?

It depends on size and how quickly content and feedback arrive. We agree a timeline in the plan.

Will I be able to edit the site myself?

We agree up front how you will update content and show you how before launch, so you are not left dependent on us for simple changes.

Will my rankings drop after a redesign?

They can if URLs change without redirects. Google describes the right process, and we follow it so what works today keeps working.

Do you build online stores?

Yes. See our e-commerce SEO service for how we approach stores.

Do you build mobile apps?

Our focus is websites and web platforms that people find through search. Apps are not our focus.

Is the site accessible?

We build with semantic structure, readable text, sufficient contrast and keyboard access, and we test with automated checks before launch.
