AI SEO: get your business found in AI search.
AI SEO makes your business easy for AI-powered search, such as Google's AI Overviews, ChatGPT and Gemini, to find, understand and recommend. It rests on the same foundations as good SEO, applied with AI answers in mind.
What AI SEO actually is
When someone asks an AI assistant for a recommendation, the answer is built from sources the system can find, read and trust. AI SEO is the work of making sure your business is one of those sources, and that what the assistant reads about you is accurate.
You will see it called generative engine optimisation (GEO) or answer engine optimisation (AEO). The names differ. The work is the same: clear pages, consistent facts and credible signals.
What Google says you need
Google's own guidance is plain. A page can appear as a supporting link in AI Overviews and AI Mode if it is indexed and eligible to show with a snippet, and Google states there are no additional technical requirements and no special optimisations needed. Inclusion is not guaranteed. Read it in Google's guide to AI features and your website.
That is why we do not sell secret files or magic markup. The gains come from getting the fundamentals right and keeping them right.
What we do
- 01
Check how you appear today
We run the searches your customers use across Google and the main AI assistants, and record what comes back.
- 02
Fix crawling and indexing
If search engines cannot reach or index your pages, nothing else matters. We find and fix the blockers.
- 03
Make your business facts consistent
Name, services, areas served and contact details should match everywhere they appear, including your Google Business Profile.
- 04
Write pages that answer questions directly
Clear headings, direct answers and useful detail, in plain HTML, so both people and machines can use them.
- 05
Add structured data that matches the page
Schema describes what is visibly on the page. It never claims more than the page shows.
- 06
Measure and report
Search Console, analytics and repeat checks of AI answers, reported by your account manager.
How we test your AI visibility
We cannot see inside an AI assistant, so we test it from the outside, the way a customer would. The method is simple and repeatable:
- Choose the questions. 10 to 20 questions a customer asks when looking for what you sell, in your area. We build them from your searches, your sales conversations and the questions competitors answer.
- Run them on a schedule in the main assistants and in Google's AI features.
- Record what comes back: whether you are mentioned, how you are described, which competitors appear and which sources are cited.
- Trace errors to their source. If an assistant describes you wrongly, we find where the wrong information comes from and fix it there.
- Repeat and compare, so you can see change over time instead of a single snapshot.
Making sure the right crawlers can reach you
If an assistant's crawler cannot reach your pages, you will not appear in its search-based answers. The companies publish what they use. OpenAI says OAI-SearchBot surfaces websites in ChatGPT's search features and recommends allowing it in robots.txt; GPTBot is separate and relates to training. Perplexity says PerplexityBot surfaces and links sites in its search results and recommends allowing it. See OpenAI's crawler overview and Perplexity's crawler guide. Which crawlers you allow is your decision, and we explain what each one does so you can make it.
Consistent facts and clear pages
Assistants repeat what they find. If your website, Google Business Profile, directories and social profiles disagree about your services, areas or contact details, an assistant may repeat the wrong version. We agree one accurate description of each service and use it everywhere. On your site, we make sure each page answers a specific question near the top, in plain HTML, under a heading that matches it.
Structured data, used honestly
Structured data describes a page in a standard format. Google says it can make pages eligible for richer results but guarantees nothing, and that markup must reflect what users can see. We add it where it accurately describes the page, and we do not use it to claim reviews, ratings or credentials you do not have.
What you receive
- A baseline of how you appear today across the questions that matter.
- A prioritised list of fixes, from crawler access to wrong information.
- Regular reports comparing the same questions over time.
- Search Console data, which Google says includes AI Overviews and AI Mode traffic in the Web search type.
Where local search fits in
Many AI recommendations are local: “who should I call near me”. An accurate, complete Google Business Profile and consistent listings help both map results and the assistants that draw on them. We treat local and AI visibility as one job, run by the same team: see our local SEO service and SEO service.

AI SEO questions, answered
What is the difference between AI SEO, GEO and AEO?
They describe the same goal from different angles. GEO (generative engine optimisation) and AEO (answer engine optimisation) are names for making your business appear in AI-generated answers. AI SEO is the broader term. In practice the work overlaps heavily with good SEO.
Can you guarantee my business will appear in AI Overviews or ChatGPT?
No. Google says that being indexed and eligible to show with a snippet is what makes a page eligible, and that inclusion is not guaranteed. AI assistants also make their own choices. We improve the things you control and report honestly on the results.
Do I need an llms.txt file or special schema for AI search?
Google states there are no additional technical requirements and no special markup needed for AI Overviews or AI Mode. We do not sell special files as a fix. Structured data is still worth having when it accurately describes what is on the page.
How do you measure AI visibility?
We check how your business appears for the searches your customers use, across Google and the main AI assistants, and record it so progress can be compared over time. We also track clicks and impressions in Google Search Console, and visits from AI assistants where your analytics shows them.
Which AI assistants do you cover?
We test Google's AI features, ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude and Perplexity, and we agree with you which ones matter most to your customers.
Should I block AI crawlers?
That is a business decision. Allowing search crawlers such as OAI-SearchBot and PerplexityBot lets those products surface your pages in answers, while training crawlers such as GPTBot are separate. We explain the trade-offs and implement what you choose.
What if an assistant says something wrong about my business?
We trace the wrong information to its source, which is often an old listing or an inconsistent page, and fix it there. We cannot edit an assistant's answer directly.
How long does it take?
Technical fixes can be live within days. Changes in search and AI results usually take weeks to months to show, and we will not promise a date. The free AI visibility check tells you where you start from.
