Medical SEO for clinics, specialists and health practices.

Medical SEO helps patients find your clinic when they search for a doctor, a condition or a treatment. We build condition and treatment pages, practitioner profiles and a Google Business Profile for each site, and we keep content accurate and consistent with the advertising and privacy rules that apply to health services.

What holds medical practices back in search

  • Conditions and treatments share one page, or are described in jargon patients do not use.
  • Practitioner profiles are missing, so patients cannot see who they would be seeing.
  • Aggregator and directory sites rank above the practice for most searches.
  • Locations share one profile, or opening hours and services are out of date.
  • Enquiry and booking forms collect health information with no thought for privacy.

How we work with practices

  1. 01

    Learn how patients search

We test the searches patients use for your specialties, conditions, treatments and area, in Google, on maps and in AI assistants.

  2. 02

    Condition and treatment pages

A page per condition or treatment, in plain language: symptoms or reasons to attend, what is involved, risks and alternatives, and how to book. A clinician at your practice reviews the content.

  3. 03

    Practitioner and clinic pages

A page per practitioner, with qualifications and registration details, and a page per clinic with real location, hours and services.

  4. 04

    Google Business Profile and reviews

Accurate categories, services and hours for each clinic, with a consistent and compliant way to invite patient reviews.

  5. 05

    Technical health

Speed, mobile layout, structured data and a booking route that works on a phone and handles patient information carefully.

  6. 06

    Reporting

Calls, booking requests and direction requests, not just rankings.

Health is a regulated, high-trust category, and Google holds health content to a high standard. Nobody can guarantee rankings. We focus on accurate, clinician-reviewed content and genuine local credibility.

What the search data shows

In October 2026, Semrush estimated about 4,400 monthly searches in the United States for medical seo, with an estimated cost per click of about $42. Related searches from practices looking for SEO help include chiropractor seo at about 2,400, doctor seo about 1,600, plastic surgeon seo about 1,300, therapist seo about 1,300, med spa seo about 1,000 and orthodontist seo about 720. In Australia, medical seo is about 390 a month and in Canada about 260. These are third-party estimates and directional only, but they show that practices across many specialties want to be easier to find.

How patients search

Patients search in three main ways. Some search for a type of practitioner near them. Some search for a symptom, condition or treatment, often at an early stage of deciding what to do. Others look for reassurance about a procedure or provider before booking. A practice that has a good page for each of those moments is easier to find and easier to trust.

Condition and treatment content

Health information must be accurate, current and written for the reader. Google's guidance on helpful content asks who created the content and whether they have first-hand expertise. For a medical practice, that means each page shows who wrote or reviewed it, when it was last reviewed and what the practitioner's qualifications are.

  • A separate page per condition or treatment, not one page listing everything.
  • Plain-language explanation of what it is, who it suits and what to expect.
  • Honest information about risks, limits and alternatives.
  • Named clinician reviewer and a last-reviewed date.
  • A clear next step: book, call or ask a question.

Advertising and privacy rules

Health services are regulated advertisers. In Australia, AHPRA publishes advertising guidelines and guidance, including on testimonials. In other countries, your medical board or regulator sets the rules, and cosmetic and aesthetic services often attract extra scrutiny. Privacy law also applies to the way a website collects patient details. In the United States, the Department of Health and Human Services explains how HIPAA treats marketing communications, so check what applies to your forms and tracking tools. We write factual copy and flag areas that need care, and you remain responsible for confirming compliance.

Local visibility for clinics

Patients usually choose a practice near them. Google says local results are based mainly on relevance, distance and prominence, as explained in its guide to improving your local ranking. Each clinic needs its own accurate profile and page, and each practitioner who sees patients there should be listed on it. See our local SEO service.

Reviews

Google's policy on fake engagement does not allow paid or incentivised reviews, or selectively asking only satisfied patients. Health privacy also limits how you reply: never confirm that someone is a patient or discuss their care in a public response. Check your regulator's rules on testimonials before you publish any.

How AI assistants describe your practice

Patients increasingly ask AI assistants about conditions and providers. Accurate, consistent practitioner and clinic information on your site and listings gives those tools better material. See our AI SEO service. We cannot promise that any assistant will recommend your practice.

Medical practices: common questions

What is medical SEO?

Medical SEO is the work of helping a clinic or health practice appear in search results, maps and AI answers when people look for a practitioner, a condition or a treatment. It covers content, practitioner profiles, the Google Business Profile, reviews and the website's technical health.

Do you work with specialists and allied health, not only doctors?

Yes. The approach applies to GPs, specialists, chiropractors, physiotherapists, therapists, med spas and similar practices, with each specialty's own pages and rules.

Who writes the medical content?

We draft from information your clinicians provide and ask a qualified clinician at the practice to review each page for accuracy before it goes live. We do not give medical advice.

Can we use patient testimonials and before-and-after photos?

That depends on your regulator's rules and the patient's consent. We help you set up a compliant process, but you must confirm what you may publish.

How long does medical SEO take?

Profile and site fixes can be quick, but changes in rankings usually take weeks to months, and health is a competitive category. We report on calls and bookings so progress is visible earlier.

Is our booking form safe for health information?

We can review how forms and analytics handle personal information and flag concerns, but compliance with health privacy law is your responsibility and may need legal advice.

Can you help a practice with several clinics?

Yes. Each clinic needs its own profile and page with real information, and we plan that structure with you.

Do you publish case studies?

We publish results only when a client has approved them and we hold the evidence, such as Google Analytics or Search Console data, so every figure on this site can be checked. For medical practice, the free AI visibility check shows where you stand today and what we would change first.
